PROGRAM for MARCH 8
The university organized a program for March 8, International Women’s Day. Mr. Rector, in his opening speech, spoke about the history and importance of this day. Ms.Rabiyet Aslanova, MP, took the floor and mentioned special attributes of the Turkish women and their contribution to Turkish culture, and their becoming a sample for the other women of the world in terms of their own way of spiritual life. Following the speeches, the audience did have a good time with performances and quiz shows delivered by the members of Kardelen student club.

SECOND SUMMER SCHOOL
Seventeen students from Germany and one from Great Britain formed the student body for the second summer school on the political and economic situation of the Caucasus. Mr. Ambassador P. Stankina spoke to the students during a visit he paid to the university, and informed them about the current political position between Germany and Azerbaijan. He also suggested the students see the regions of Azerbaijan where German heritage still remains, tying the two countries. Mr.Elmar Qasimov also welcomed the students at the Ministry of Education and delivered some important information about the on-going educational developments in the country. The program went on for another week in Georgia.

COMMEMORATION of KHOJALI GENOCIDE

The university organized an event dedicated to Khojali Genocide on its 15th anniversary. Mr.Rector, in his speech, stated that although it’s been 15 years now, people still have vivid images about this day written to the book of history with bloody letters when 613 people including the elderly, children and women were murdered in the most tyrannical way. Azerbaijan commemorates the genocide with sorrow every year. Mr.Sanic also stated that Turkey has shared Azerbaijan’s happiness and sorrow. The Chair of World Azerbaijani Congress Mr. Muradov said that the memory should remain in the youth’s mind and stated that intellectuals should take an active role in introducing Khojali genocide to the world. According to Seyidaga Movsumov, Khojali experienced a kind of systematic extermination that was never seen before and that the perpetrators will need to be taken to justice. The program ended with a video including Samil Sabiroglu’s photographs and Zemine Axundova’s drama ‘Voices from Khojali.’

MINISTER for FOREIGN AFFAIRS TO VISIT THE UNIVERSITY
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr.Abdullah Gül paid a visit to the university during his official visit to Azerbaijan on June, 20. While entering the institution he saw the banner that read ‘Qafqaz University is the masterpiece of Heydar Aliyev’ and he spoke highly about him stating that ‘Our distinguished leader! We follow your saying ‘one nation, two countries’ in our activities and hearts. We have learned a great deal from him. May he rest in peace.’ Mr.Rector and Mr Enver Ozeren, the president of Cag Educational, also shared the same thought in their speeches, adding that Ilham Aliyev, the president of Azerbaijan, is a successful follower. Mr.Gul, in his speech, emphasized on the importance of the national and international achievements of Cag Educational. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey congratulated 9 students of Turkish High Schools on their achievements in scientific olympiads last year.
